Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
This policy explains what personal data Samurai Summary collects, why, and your rights. The data controller is AlwaysBeta S.r.l., Via Stendhal 59, 20144 Milano, Italy, VAT IT10732870968. Contact: hello@alwaysbeta.co.
1. Data we collect
- Account data from Google Sign-In: your name, email address, profile picture and Google account identifier.
- Content you save: the YouTube videos you choose to analyze (video ID, title and transcript), and what you create with them — AI summaries, timestamps, translations, chat messages, highlights and folders.
- Billing data: your subscription plan and status, and a Stripe customer ID. Card details are entered on Stripe's pages and processed by Stripe; we never receive them.
- Usage data: records of AI operations (type and amount of processing) used to run the service and prevent abuse, plus standard server logs (such as IP address and request time).
- Analytics data: pages visited, referrer, browser and device type, and the main steps you take in the app (such as importing a video, sending a chat message or starting a subscription). In the app these are linked to your account.
The Chrome extension reads a YouTube video's transcript only when you click its button, and sends it to your account. It does not track your browsing or read other pages.
2. Why we use it
- To provide the Service: store your videos and generate summaries, translations and chat answers (performance of our contract with you).
- To manage subscriptions and payments, and to meet tax and accounting obligations (contract and legal obligation).
- To keep the Service secure, enforce fair use and fix problems (legitimate interest).
- To understand how the site and the app are used and improve them (legitimate interest).
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
3. Who processes it for us
- Anthropic — AI processing of transcripts and chat messages to generate summaries, timestamps, translations and answers.
- Railway — hosting of the app and its database, in the United States (US West region).
- Stripe — payments and subscription management.
- Google — sign-in.
- PostHog — product analytics and error reports, stored in the European Union.
- Simple Analytics — privacy-friendly, anonymous visit statistics for the website, stored in the European Union.
Some of these providers are located outside the European Economic Area; transfers rely on appropriate safeguards: the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, otherwise the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser also stores your dark-mode preference locally. Our analytics tools run without cookies or local storage. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account and saved content while your account is active, so your library stays available. When you delete a video, its transcript, AI results, chat and highlights are deleted. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except billing records we must keep by law.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to hello@alwaysbeta.co. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
7. Changes
We will update this page if our practices change, and notify you of material changes.
